So Im really not good with random posts, I seem to be fine just rambling away on FF but writing here is kinda hard but I just need somewhere to post :D
OK first off, I just found out that if you get a degree then you can take part in the post graduate exam for any major you want which considering the fact that I spent the last 2 years hating my major (architecture) and depressed thinking I was gonna have to continue in this path which I loathed or to start aaaaall over from scratch with another major has got me extremely giddy yaaaay :D now I wont be able to officially take the exam for another year when my studies are over but I can take the exam this year as a test and I just got the form to sign up for a degree in Cinema, which I mean Ill have to get all the books and study without taking classes which is fine cause honestly if I were to take an architecture exam right now Im pretty sure Ill get less than 0% on all the subjects thats how much I pay attention in class, I dont even know what half my classes this term are about lmao. and also I might need field experience to be accepted but I can take ayear off and make a short movie or two to show, right? :D things are looking up in that department.
Second: this guy from uni that Ive had a huge crush on for more than a year but never spoke to joined facebook last week, and seeing as how I lack self control I was amongst the first people to add him and ever since we became "Facebook friends" about a week ago he's spoken to me pretty much everytime hes seen me, (which is twice since Ive been sick and didnt go to class for 3 days,) but yesterday was awesome, it was just random and funny and we were kinda poking fun at eachother and just *dies* ... I mean, he is the one started the conversation, that made the jokes, ... that calls me by my name where here guys mostly call you by your surname, so its always "Miss something", ... Im not going to read too much into this, Im not gonna give myself false hope that he's into me, just uuuugh, I sound like such a twelve year old *blush* things are looking up in that department?? dunno
and also, ... I found a way to screw over my internet company *smirk* I payed for unlimited downloads from midnight to 8 and after a month they cancel it saying the government wont allow it and they dont give me my money back, ... well after many experiments I discovered a way to make the downloads unlimited again ... which is something they probobly dont know about and it gives me great joy to screw them over cause they pissed me off and also this means I dont have to choose which of my favourite shows to watch :D
Random latest obsession: CHUCK/BLAIR *dies* they're so hot and cute and just ... adorable, gaaah <3
and I got picked to write a movie review for the school paper, ... something artsy and somewhat new and cool, I have a few ideas none real good though, suggestions?
that was long *oops* sorry XP [/end of random post]

I've been looking around LJ and I noticed a few people have posts on the crisis going on in my country which kinda made me ashamed that I dont have such a thing, I spend every single waking minute thinking about it and worrying and just ranting and rambling off to anyone I come across, Ive had hour long discussions and arguements with strangers in the middle of the street but to make a post on LJ, to broadcast how Im feeling, to admit being afraid and weak? even the thought of that freaks me out.
+God, I wish I lived in Tehran, I wish my stupid professor would just agree and postpone our assignments deadline so I could go and just do something for my country, I feel useless sitting here in this little town where nobody, including me, ever has the courage to do anything.
+I am ashamed of a few of my fellow Iranians, a few of the people I call my friends when I see we have people halfway across the world worrying and supporting us and then we have people here saying things like "you deserve to be beaten to death for disagreeing with what you-know-who says", I mean voting for Pinocchio is one thing, Ive got nothing against that, its your beliefs, you're happy with the way things have been these past 4 years and would like us to continue down this road that will eventually lead to self destruction but to see the violence, to see the way the government is handling everything and to still be able to keep your head held high and support them, I'm sorry but how can you call yourself an Iranian?!
+The news here, the Iranian TV seems to think people were born stupid. The shit they try to pass off as news is an insult to everyones intellegence, yesterday our foreign affairs guy was saying how these protestors were not Iranian people there were terrorists sent here from England to riot, I mean seriously??? were you stupid not to do anything about this if you knew the English were sending terrorists over here for months?! So everyone in Iran is totally fine with the results of the election and the only people who have a problem are actually terrorists from England? *rolleyes* this paranoia concerning the US and the UK has got to stop NOW, we're never gonna get anywhere if we continue blaming all our problems on foreigners.
+They keep showing smashed windows and fires on the news to say the protestors are doing these, now Im not saying that all the people protesting are angels but at least half of these are done by the basij and the police themselves, my friends who had taken part in one of the riots told me that the police started following them down a street and that on their way they would break all the windows on all the cars parked on that street in an attempt to make people think the protestors had done that, to turn the people against them, and then they have the nerve to say on the news that we're doing everything to stop the people from turning against eachother!!!
Why do people never learn from past experiences? The people responsible for everything right now are the same people that practicaly led the revoloution against the Shah 30 years ago, and they're making the same mistakes he made, doing the same things he did, except this time they're wrongfully plastering the name of religion on everything they do. its like history is repeating itself, they know from experience that the people will never let them run things like this so why do they not learn???
I just read through my post and its all over the place but I thats just how things are here right now, all over the place, so sorry if I rambled too much.

I just watched this movie and it blew my mind away, I just couldn’t contain my feelings for another second and had to come write my thoughts about it.
Let’s start with the all-star cast shall we? Leonardo Dicaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone …, what more do you want? Every single one of them gives an excellent performance.
I wasn’t a big fan of Leonardo in his ‘Titanic’ days, lets just say my favourite scene in that horrible movie was when he died, but after ‘Catch me if you can’ I’ve changed my mind. He is probably one of the best actors around nowadays, his performance was fabulous. His character was very well-written, and extremely likeable.
Matt Damon also does great as Colin, he portrays all of the emotions perfectly, though his character wasn’t as likable as Leo’s and he did have less to do, he still had an amazing dialogue and did a great job with it.
Mark Wahlberg was amazing, his character was extremely funny and very likeable with his smart-ass remarks, I found myself enjoying most of the scenes he was in.
And now we reach Jack Nicholson, I always thought he was a bit crazy and I wasn’t a big fan of his but he did an awesome job in this movie, his character is, of course, the least likeable but that’s the way it’s supposed to be, and he manages to portray that very well. I loved him from his very first scene to the very last.
And now to the story: the story itself is kind of repetitive, something that’s been done a lot before, that is until the last 50 minutes arrive and you find yourself completely in awe with what is happening, nothing like that has ever happened its literary mind blowing. I thought the movie only really started from the first time they went to 344 (watch the movie, you’ll know what I’m talking about), and after that it got better and better, ending with a bang.
I’ve only seen two other movies by Scorsese, one was \'Gangs of New York\' which I thought was OK, a bit brutal but still enjoyable, and the other one was ‘The Aviator’ which I thoroughly enjoyed, although that movie didn’t have much twists since it was a true story but the acting and the filming, the way the scenes changed was practically perfect.
As was this movie, he created such suspense and excitement that I couldn’t even sit down, I was standing during the last 50 minutes of the movie (my legs really hurt after that!), I was so tense that at times I even forgot to breath!
Now I don’t really like movies with a lot of blood, I think they tend to get either a bit silly or disgusting if a lot of blood is shown, but thankfully the amazing twists in the plot, the enchanting script, and the great acting lets us pass that fact.
Since the Oscars are near, I’ll give my opinion about that as well, I don’t really think it will win the Oscar for best movie, although I haven’t seen the other movies that might be nominated, but I still think it has too many flaws to win, after al a movie never won the Oscars only because they had 5 minutes worth watching.
Leonardo on the other hand might have a good chance of wining although I’ve got to say it again, I’ve not seen the other hopefuls, so I cant give an honest opinion but I’ve got my fingers crossed for Leo this year!
I truly and honestly recommend you to watch this movie, (just as long as you don’t really hate movies with blood, and gangsters in them!) and if you feel quite bored or not really impressed during the first hour, don’t worry the next hour will definitely make up for it, so that you even forget why you didn’t like the first half! You must see it. 7.5/10 (I took 2.5 points off for the first half; I wasn’t very pleased with it!)

Time is running out for a happy ending.
Apartment building superintendent Cleveland Heep (Giamatti) rescues what he thinks is a young woman from the pool he maintains. When he discovers that she is actually a character from a bedtime story who is trying to make the journey back to her home, he works with his tenants to protect his new friend from the creatures that are determined to keep her in our world.
-Summary by imdb.com
I am a huge fan of M. Night Shyamalan, I loved ‘The Village’ and ‘Sixth Sense’ he crates so much suspense in his movies, and then the twists at the end are always amazing, but this time I was disappointed.
None of the characters in this movie are introduced correctly so we don’t know what type of character they are, if we should like them or if we shouldn’t. The story is, and I never thought Id say this about any movie, too fictional! Don’t get me wrong, I love fiction movie, my favourite movies are the ‘Star Wars’ movies, but this one was just unbelievable. All the things about the saviour monkeys and the dog that looks like the grass and the eagle and all, it was just too much!
Although I liked the acting, having watched ‘The Illusionist’ a week before, I already knew ‘Paul Giamatti’ could act and the same goes to ‘Bryce Dallas Howard’ and ‘the Village’, but characters were vague. The movie was hard to understand but it wasn’t because it was a confusing movie, or a movie like ‘Fight Club’ where you have to think real hard to figure out what just happened, no it was because there was nothing to understand. You kept thinking that there has got to be more to this movie, but there wasn’t.
Shyamalan who normally has amazing twists in the plot seemed to have forgotten to add this time. There wasn’t a single scene in the movie that couldn’t be predicted from the very beginning and sometimes I found myself thinking how stupid the characters were that they didn’t see that coming.
I liked the fact that he decided to tell the story, not through ‘Story’ herself but through someone else, as a bedtime story, since that did give us something to stick around for, but why would the Chinese girls mother keep telling her little bits of the story, and why not just say it all from the beginning? That seemed a little weird that she didn’t want to say anything at first but ended up saying little bits and pieces to her without Cleveland having to ask again!
Anyways I almost find it hard to believe that this movie was directed by Shyamalan, it didn’t have any of his trademarks (Except the fact that he, himself had a role), it didn’t have the feels of his movies either, it seemed like a very bad newcomer made a movie about some silly story his great-grandmother used to tell him when he was a child.
So all in all, I’m going to give this movie a 3/10, and that’s just because of the actors and a few good scenes, but I don’t really recommend you to see this cause it might damage the image you have of Shyamalan or if you really want to watch a movie of his watch his earlier work.

\" \"The Phantom of the Opera\" is a magnificent tale that begins when an opera ghost terrorizes the cast and crew of the French Opera House while tutoring a chorus girl. He finally drives the lead soprano crazy so she and her friend leave. The girl is able to sing lead one night but the soprano doesn\'t want her show stolen so she comes back. The ghost demands they keep giving his protoge lead roles. Meanwhile, His pupil falls in love with the Vicomte de Chagny, but the Phantom is in love with Christine, his student. The Phantom is outraged by their love and kidnaps Christine to be his eternal bride. Will Raoul, the Vicomte, be able to stop this dastardly plan? Watch and find out\"

A friend of mine had seen this movie and had hated it, had advised me not to watch this movie at any cost, since the singing had annoyed him but I was strongly disappointed in him when I saw it and loved it! Its possibly one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
The beginning of the movie is enchanting; I loved how the dust lifted off everything to reveal a beautiful opera house. I also liked the fact that the scenes in the future were black and white, it had a great effect. The scenery, the sets, the clothes, everything was beautiful; it was like looking at a piece of art. I had never seen a movie so beautiful; all the scenes were filmed to perfection, the scene is Phantoms hideout, the one in the snow, and the one on the roof were amongst the most fascinating scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie.
The songs were beautiful, although the fact that most of the dialogues are sung out does tend to get on peoples nerves after a while, (The phantom only speaks 14 lines, he sings the rest!) but since the voices of the singers and the lyrics are beautiful, it tends to please more than annoy. But that depends on your own taste, my mother for example, got a headache from watching the movie, and said they shouted too much when they were singing, but I disagree its an opera, they are supposed to sing like that (Although the notes aren’t as high as normal operas so don’t get put off buy that). I adored the Phantoms voice, it was so powerful.
The characters were all likeable and very well played, although I wasn’t a huge fan of Raoul, I didn’t like the way he looked, and I did not understand why Christine would fall in love him, he wasn’t very interesting. The Phantom on the other hand, not only looked good but acted good as well, he was very attractive. Emmy Rossum also did a good job as Christine, she has the voice of an angel!
The ending was OK, it had a bit of a moral ending, though I would have preferred if it was a bit different (I don’t want to spoil anything) but then again this is a story that has been around for a long time and I don’t expect them to change it just to satisfy the needs of today’s shippers!
All in all, you all have to see this movie, it’s just beautiful, even if you think the songs will give you a headache, then watch it with the volume low, even muted with subtitles because its just one of those movies that have to be seen, its like a work of art, trust me you will thoroughly enjoy it. 9.5/10

Nothing is what it seems.
\"Director Neil Burger\'s screen adaptation of Steven Millhauser\'s short story \'Eisenheim the Illusionist\'. Eisenheim (Edward Norton) is a magician in early 1900\'s Vienna, who falls in love with a woman well above his social standing. When she becomes engaged to a Crown Prince, Eisenheim uses his powers to free her and undermine the stability of the royal house of Vienna \"

After reading many good reviews about this movie, I knew this was one of those movies that I just had to see and I was right, this is a must-see movie.
The story is amazing; it will keep you guessing all the way to the end. The end is very well thought out, and extremely surprising. I was laughing at the sheer genius of it when it finished. The scenery is all beautiful; the way the camera move is enchanting, practically everything about this movie is ‘Magical’ (No pun intended!). The magic tricks were very cool, extremely enjoyable to watch and most of all original.
And now on the main attraction: the actors. The wonderful actors that have come together to add a special something to the roles and to the flow of the movie, the casting in this movie was one of the best I’ve ever seen, all the actors seemed to fit perfectly into their roles. I strongly believe that if anyone other than Edward Norton has played the role of Eisenheim I wouldn’t have enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Norton was amazing as always, he really is an under-rated actor, he deserves so much more credit than he gets. He went into the role so that it was impossible to even think about the fact that he is an actor playing the role of Eisenheim and not Eisenheim himself. His accent was amazing, and he managed to show his emotions at every scene, I especially loved the scene where he’s reaching for Sophie’s hand nearing the end, and he has tears in his eyes, it was just heart-breaking.
Paul Giamatti also does an excellent job showing exactly how the cop was caught in the middle, and how he was confused and scared at the things he was discovering. Rufus Sewell also does a pretty good job portraying a role not unlike others he’s already played (If I remember correctly he was a knight in ‘A Knight’s tale’), He does have the looks for playing a king and a prince and especially an evil one. Jessica Biel is also quite good, though she is easily over-shadowed by Norton and Giamatti, but she still manages to give a good performance. The chemistry between her and Edward was remarkable.
All in all, I think that everyone will thoroughly enjoy this movie, and be pleasantly surprised at the end (If you don’t think too hard because if you do, you might just spoilt it for yourself!) and absolutely amazed by the wonderful performances the cast, especially Edward Norton give. 9.5/10
